  • Huracan players Patricio Toranzo and Diego Mendoza suffer injury after the team bus overturned on Wednesday, while carrying the team back from a Copa Libertadores tie in Venezuela.

This was the scene following the terrifying accident suffered by Argentine side Huracan on Tuesday evening.

Players were celebrating qualification to the group stage of the Copa Libertadores following a Diego Mendoza stoppage time goal that snatched victory over Caracas.

The team was on its way to Simon Bolivar Airport, located in the neighbouring state of Vargas and was travelling down a steep mountain when the brakes failed on the coach.

The driver attempted to find an escape ramp but the bus overturned.

Initial reports suggested that injuries were not severe, however, over the course of Wednesday news filtered through that a member of the coaching staff had broken his pelvis.

While midfielder Patricio Toranzo was forced to have four toes on his left foot amputated.

Mendoza was also injured and underwent treatment for a broken ankle.

On Wednesday, Argentine ambassador, Eduardo Porretti showed his support by paying Huracan players and management a visit during this trying time.
