Several days of persistent fog forced the organisers to shorten the course on the famous Kandahar hill for Saturday's men's downhill World Cup.

Romed Baumann, set the early pace from a start number of five, crossing the line in a time of 1 minute 11.91 seconds.

It was almost enough to secure victory - almost.

As the 'big guns' came down the mountain, Baumann's time stood firm - even the Olympic champion, Matthias Mayer couldn't get closer than a quarter of a second.

Then came Austria's Hannes Reichelt and the super-G world champion broke the line in 1 minute 11.91 seconds to snatch the win from Baumann by the slimmest of margins - one hundredth of a second.

That made it a 1-2-3 for Austria and a 10th career World Cup victory for Reichelt, who moved up from fifth to second in the downhill standings, 84 points behind Jansrud.
