-
Intro:
Norway's Anders Fannemel set a new world record at Sunday's (15th February) ski jumping World Cup flying hill event in Vikersund, but still finished second to Severin Freund.
Script:
Peter Prevc had waited more than four years to break the world record of Johan Remen Evensen, however his record was dispatched within 24 hours.
Anders Fannemel was the man who set the new ski jumping world record, jumping for 251.5 metres in the first round of Sunday's flying hill event in Vikersund.
Prevc's world record jump on Saturday was the first 250 metre plus jump, yet the Norwegian out did that by 1.5 metres.
And understandably, Fannemel was elated by the record jump.
Despite the world record, Fannemel still had company at the top of the leaderboard.
The Norwegian led the event by 2.3 points at the halfway stage until Fannemel's compatriot - Johann Andre Forfang - had led until the German Freund, produced a jump of 245 metres to move into first place.
Fannemel then made the final jump of the day, but he failed to produce another huge effort.
An underwhelming jump of 202 metres was only enough for a final score of 394 points and second place for the new world record holder.
The field will now head to Falun, Sweden for the 2015 World Ski Championships, which get underway on Wednesday (18th February).
