Intro:
Hannes Reichelt of Austria spoiled Switzerland's big day to win the host nation's signature World Cup downhill in Wengen on Sunday (18 January).
Script:
In picture perfect conditions, with blue skies and bright sunshine, Wengen was the stage for the men's World Cup downhill on Sunday.
24,000 spectators watched on, in hope of another Swiss victory.
Carlo Janka set the pace early.
Despite the idealic setting, the race surface was a tricky mix of softer and icier patches.
It made the race more tiring than usual, especially for Janka who crashed down as he crossed the finish line.
He held the lead until Beat Feuz stepped up.
The Swiss skier shaved 0.02 off his compatriots time.
It looked like the home crowd would leave satisfied, but then Hannes Reichelt spoiled the party.
The Austrian trailed Feuz's time until the final S-bend.
He crossed the line 0.12 seconds ahead of Feuz to claim his second World Cup win of the season.
It's also the 34-year-old's ninth win of his career.
