Koudelka in ominous ski jump form

  • Intro:

Roman Koudelka added a Ski Jumping World Cup victory on Sunday (December 21) to his second-place finish on Engelberg's large hill the previous day.

    Script:

Beautiful weather - decent snow in the high Alps - perfect for the Ski Jump in Switzerland..

Roman Koudelka had not been in attendance for the two World Cup meetings in the Russian resort of Nizhny Tagil.

As it is, he is still chasing down Anders Fannemel - and on this showing appears to be doing a fine job of it.

Koudelka led at the halfway stage with 144.3 points.

The Swiss were in full voice as Simon Ammann came down the ramp.

And the Swiss man added 142.3 to his earlier 142.1 to go top with 284.4 points.

As per usual, it all came down to the last man - Koudelka.

An error, a scruffy jump, and victory was Ammann's.

But there were to be no mistakes.

The Czech delivering was a massive leap of 138.5 metres for a return of 145.3 points and a combined 289.6.

Ultimately, a comfortable victory - and one that sees Koudelka amass 470 World Cup points, pulling to within just two of Fannemel, who finished eighth.
