The BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier round of 16 got underway in Jakarta on Thursday.
First up was the mixed doubles with Korean pair Lee Yong Dae and Shin Seung Chan beating local pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Greysia Polii 21-18, 21-17.
In the women's doubles, Asian champions and twin sisters Luo Ying and Luo Yu of China booked their place in the quarter-finals by defeating local duo Keshya Nurvita Hanadia and Devi Tika Permatasari 21-8, 21-11.
Home favourites Berry Angriawan and Richy Karanda Suwardi of Indonesia lost out in the men's doubles to Malaysians Boon Heong Tan and Wee Kiong Tan in three sets, 18-21, 21-18, 21-17.
There was some joy for Indonesia when local favourites and top seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan overcame Danish pair Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup Sorensen in their men's doubles clash 21-14, 21-11.
Now to the men's singles and Hong Kong's Hu Yun survived a match point to come back and beat former champion and Indonesian Simon Santoso 21-18, 13-21, 22-20.
Number four seed Kenichi Tago from Japan booked his place in the last eight after a 21-18, 21-15 victory against Malaysian Chong Wei Feng.
In the women's singles, world champion Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand converted her fourth opportunity of match point and beat Malaysian Jing Yi Tee in 40 minutes, 21-10, 26-24.
Indian number one Saina Nehwal won against eighth seed Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland in 36 minutes, 21-17, 21-9.
