It was China versus Taipei in the final of the women's singles badminton at the Tokyo Open on Sunday (15th June).

Olympic Champion Li Xuerui was in a ruthless mood as she captured the title in emphatic style.

The World No 1 taking the match 21-16 21-6.

The women's doubles showcased the huge strength in depth of the host nation as third seeds Misaki Masutomo and Ayaka Takahashi faced Miyuki Maeda and Reika Kakiiwa, the fourth seeds.

Masutomo and Takahashi always seemed to be in control, taking the first game 21-13.

The second was a closer affair, yet the third seeds eventually won a marathon game point to take the title - their first Superseries title after their fifth attempt in a final.
