Marcel Hirscher is closing in a third straight overall World Cup title after his main rival Aksel Lund Svindal failed to score points in this Super-G in Switzerland.
Hirscher finished 12th, which doesn't sound like championship winning form but it moves him to within 19 points of Svindal with his best events to come.
Svindal can take one positive from this day though, as everyone was reminded that surprises do happen, first Mermillod Blondin set the fastest time before his teammate Alexis Pinturault went down in one minute, 13.71 seconds to beat Blondin by 0.56 seconds.
That gave Pinturault his first ever World Cup win in Super G. Even he looks like he can't believe it.
