The men's World Cup ski jumping competition was held in Lahti, Finland, on Sunday.
The Polish fans were in buoyant spirits and they had every reason to be when Kamil Stoch -- who hails from Zakopane -- won the event with 281.0 points from his two jumps of 131m and 134.5m.
The 26-year-old recorded his fifth triumph this season to ensure he snatched back the yellow bib, with 1131 points overall this season.
Germany's Severin Freund has won his last two competitions but he was second best today after earning a total of 277.4 points.
The hip hop fan may not be eight miles away from the top of the World Cup ski jumping table but being in third place, 224 points off the lead, is far enough.
Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria occupied the last podium position with 270.2 points, the first time he's made the top three since January.
Only five events remain this season and the next battle takes place in Kuopio, Finland, on Tuesday.
