Team GB athletes arrive back in London, England, on Monday (24th February) after achieving the best medal haul at a Winter Olympics since 1924.

Great Britain's most successful Winter Olympics team since the inaugral Games in Chamonix 1924 returned home on Monday.


Lizzy Yarnold won the solo gold medal for Team GB, with her resounding victory in the Skeleton.

"The track record with the first run - and that was a complete surprise. I didn't even check the times. I still haven't really seen the time sheet. I think I was there to do my best. I was just unbelievably focused on every corner. Staying relaxed. Connected with the sled. And now looking back on the whole thing I can't believe that it all went so well. So, so, pleased with it all."


David Murdoch led the Men's curling team to silver, and despite his Scottish allegiance, he wasn't willing to offer his opinion on the independence debate....

"We play for Scotland to qualify for the Olympics. That's what we do at the World Championship. What will be, will be. I think the Scottish public will decide. They will decide if they want to be independent or not and we will just have to see what happens really. We are obviously part of Team GB just now and we are very proud of that as well. We will leave the public to decide."

And the figurehead of the Women's curling team, Eve Muirhead, thinks it's exciting times for the future of curling in the country.....

"For curling, it is great to know that sport is growing. And if that money can get put into the sport then it is definitely going to help it expand and and what we heard in Sochi that the sport has really taken off back home. It's great to know that people are giving it a shot."

And with the announcement of greater funding for the winter sports in the country, there's every chance Korea in four years time could bring even great smiles to these snow-less shores.
