    Japan beat Denmark 3-2 in the group stages of the Sudirman Cup at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Tuesday.

    Denmark and Japan met on the third competition day at the Sudirman Cup at the Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday.

    Ahead their encounter, both sides had beaten Singapore and were level in Group 1D.

    The match started with mixed doubles and the Denmark pair of Christinna Pedersen and Joachim Fischer Nielsen spent an hour and eight minutes in court before defeating the Japanese couple.

    Japan levelled though when Kenichi Tago overcame Jan O Jorgensen in the men's singles, 13-21, 21-19, 27-25.

    World number one duo Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen faced a tough challenge from the Japanese pair of Kenichi Hayakawa and Hiroyuk Endo in men's doubles, but the Olympic silver medallists prevailed in three sets, 21-12, 16-21, 21-16.

    Later In women's singles, Sayaka Takahashi beat Line Kjaersfeldt 21-16, 21-15 to level the contest at two wins each.

    Japan emerged triumphant after their women's double pair of Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi defeated Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl 22-20, 21-16.

    Japan is now top of group, followed by Demark and Singapore.
