Olympic withdrawals left the BWF Super Series Singapore Open with a depleted field.

The semifinals kicked off with Taiwan's Chen Hung-ling and Cheng Wen-hsing facing Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying of Malaysia in the mixed doubles.

The second-seeded Taiwanese duo took full advantage of a wide open bracket, knocking out the third-seeded Malaysian pair to advance to Sunday's final.

In the men's singles, unseeded Wang Zhengming from China is into his first-ever Super Series final after beating Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.

China also advanced to the women's doubles final after fifth-seeded Bao Yixin and Zhong Qianxin finished off Japan's Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna.

In the women's singles, Singapore's Xing Aiying appeared well on her way to continuing her surprising run through her home Open after setting up game point at 21-20 in a tough opener against Taiwan's Cheng Shao-chieh.

But she let it slip through her fingers as Cheng clawed back to win the first game 23-21 with the smash.

The Singaporean never recovered as Cheng cruised through the second game to win the match.

In the men's doubles, Indonesia's Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan lost the opening game to Japan's Hiyoyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa.

But the Olympic champions took control in the second, eventually winning it to leavel the match.

They then completed their comeback in the third to move into the men's doubles final.
