Manchester United were representing at Chester Racecourse on Wednesday.

But whilst Wayne Rooney's a dab hand with a football, it seems he's not got much luck with the horses.

His horse, Pippy, came last in his first race, with jockey Richard Kingscote unable to negotiate his way anywhere near the front in the soft going.

9-2 shot All Fur Coat was the winner in front of the Irish horse, Just Past Andover, who went off as 11-4 favourite.

Ridden by course specialist Franny Norton, she sailed to victory by two-and-three-quarter lengths from Just Past Andover, with Baddilini a further length-and-a-quarter away in third.

Only eight horses took part after five were pulled out and Dreamy Ciara was withdrawn after unshipping Padraig Beggy at the start.

Meanwhile the feature race of the day was the Chester Cup.

Last year's winner Overturn led for most of the race, but just after the last turn, French horse Ill de Re overtook for the win.

Rooney will be hoping for better luck on Thursday as he's returning to Chester with another horse.
