David Amoo gives Port Vale victory over Leyton Orient

David Amoo’s second-half strike secured the three points for Port Vale after they beat lowly Leyton Orient 1-0 at Vale Park.
The former Carlisle winger came up trumps in the 71st minute as the home side finally capitalised on their numerous opportunities.
Vale twice went close within the opening period when Will Atkinson failed to connect with the ball inside the six-yard box after David Worrall sent in an inch-perfect cross, before Worrall himself slammed the ball wide after meeting Mark Cullen’s pass.
Orient, without a league win since mid-December, nearly took the lead when Lee Angol sent the ball into the box for Josh Wright, but his effort was superbly smothered by Vale goalkeeper Scott Brown.
Vale had more chances to go in front in the second-half, with Cullen hitting the ball straight at O’s goalkeeper Sam Sargeant, before they broke the deadlock.
Amoo latched on to Leon Legge’s pass into the box and rifled the ball past Sargeant for his fifth goal of the season as Vale recorded a home win for the first time since December 29.
