Peterborough set up Dover tie with replay victory over Stevenage

Peterborough will host Dover in the FA Cup second round following a 2-0 win over Stevenage in the first round replay at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Mo Eisa’s 13th goal of the season set Darren Ferguson’s side on their way before substitute Ricky-Jade Jones wrapped things up deep into added time.

After a scrappy opening, Ivan Toney found Eisa on the edge of the area and he fired the hosts ahead in the 11th minute.

Posh almost added a second five minutes before the interval when Eisa connected with Marcus Maddison’s cross, but Paul Farman pulled off a fine save to divert the ball over for a corner.

After the break, Elliott List had the visitors’ best chance in the 65th minute but Christy Pym got down well low to his left to palm away to safety.

As Stevenage committed men forward, Posh went close after a 40-yard run and shot from Maddison saw the ball agonisingly rebound through Toney’s legs, before substitute Joe Ward saw his fierce strike brilliantly cleared off the line by Luis Fernandez with Farman beaten.

Jones finally put the game beyond doubt though by slotting home after linking up with Maddison and Toney on the break.
