TOTTENHAM had the game sewn up early in their 4-0 demolition of Crystal Palace, so much so that fans were able to crack on with their own needlework.

A double from Son Heung-min either side of a Patrick van Aanholt own-goal was compounded by a goal from Erik Lamela during a rampant first half from Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Despite the impressive performance from the north London outfit, two female fans sewing up in the stands was what sent Twitter into meltdown.

And predictably, it was supporters from rivals Arsenal leading the charge, with one posting: "They've always been the joke of England and London! What's new mate."

Another said: "If this happened at the Emirates we wouldn't hear the end of it".

A third tweeted: "So you're allowed to take a needle into a football ground but not the tops of bottles! Absolutely ridiculous".

"How did our elite security let a needle through wtf," a fourth added.

However, Spurs fans came to the defence of the ladies, firing back that the women were showing off their multitasking skills.

One said: "You underestimate women though, we're great at multitasking. She was probably intensely watching the game, whilst her hands knitted away.

"I agree though, football team comes first. Saying that, Spurs were cruising all game, no wonder the knitting needles came out."

Arsenal fans have also fallen victim to a social media frenzy after one Gooner was mocked for munching a big bag of carrots during a clash with Liverpool.

Elsewhere in London, a Chelsea fan was once spotted brushing their teeth.

But perhaps the oddest activity spotted in the stands was a Bayern Munich fan using an Adidas shoe as a phone.
