Victor Valdes Sent Off In His First Game As Barcelona Under 19's Boss For Shouting 'F**k You' At Ref

Victor Valdes's coaching debut was an eventful one, with the former Barcelona and Spain goalkeeper sent off for shouting "f**k you" at the referee.

Valdes, who won three Champions Leagues with the Blaugrana, has returned to his old club as head coach of Juvenil A in what he hopes will kick-start his coaching career in the game.

His first competitive game in charge was a 1-0 win over Catalonian rivals Girona thanks to a solitary goal from Nico Gonzalez, but the win was overshadowed by Valdes losing his head towards the end of the game.

Unhappy with the ref's decision to give a free-kick against his side, SPORT say the 37-year old screamed "f*** you" at the man in the middle from the touchline and was given his marching orders.

Valdes is likely to have a punishment from the Spanish FA coming his way for his conduct and it could be an unwanted disruption for his Barca youngsters.

Early into his tenure as manager, Valdes refused to let his players play in a third-place play-off against Everton in the summer Otten Cup tournament in Eindhoven - his reasoning being that not enough was allocated for recovery after their semi-final defeat to Inter Milan one hour prior.

Explaining his call in a statement, Valdes said: "My decision is based solely on safeguarding the health of my young players since we are not satisfied with the organisation in terms of rest times between matches.

"Today, after being eliminated in the semi-finals, there has been no room for recovery, just one hour between games, to an unusual wear and tear for their age and for the pre-season stretch in which we find ourselves."
