James could become just second player since Maradona to wear Napoli's No.10 shirt

James Rodriguez will have a difficult choice to make once he completes his switch from Real Madrid to Napoli.

The Colombian has worn the No.10 shirt for the majority of his career, but that number still belongs to Diego Maradona at Napoli.

The Argentine legend is like a god in Naples after an extremely successful spell in Italy during the 1980s and 1990s and just one player has worn the No.10 since his departure in 1991.

"It's a dream that James is coming to Napoli, but don't touch the No.10," Maradona's son told MARCA.

Napoli retired Maradona's number once he'd left, with only Argentinian Roberto 'Pampa' Sosa being given the opportunity to wear it.

Sosa asked to wear the No.10 in his final game for the club during their dark years down in Serie C.

"I'm gong to go but I want to ask for one thing: in the last game we play in Serie C, I have to start and I have to play with the No.10," Sosa said.

So, during a match against Frosinone in April 2006, Sosa became the only player since Maradona to wear Napoli's No.10 shirt.

The question now is whether James will ask to take on the responsibility that comes with wearing Maradona's shirt.
