21.30 UPDATE: De Ligt battle to rumble on
Manchester City and Liverpool are also interested in Matthijs de Ligt, along with Manchester United, according to Duncan Castles.
"We should factor in here that Manchester United are not the only Premier League club that Mino Raiola will try and sell the player to," he said on The Transfer Window podcast.
"There has been talk of Liverpool's interest which I think is correct. Although I don't think there need is as great, certainly not as great as Manchester United. What I do know is that Manchester City have pursued De Ligt for a long time.
"I know that, several months ago, before Barcelona went in strong for De Ligt, that people at Ajax felt City was his most likely destination. We now have Vincent Kompany announcing his exit from Manchester City to move to another league and become player-coach at Anderlecht.
"That happened quite soon and it's something that Manchester City have to reassess, their transfer strategy, to the point of do they want to have John Stones as their starting centre-back next season, alongside Laporte?
"Or do they want to bring in another high-quality defender to compete for that position? And De Ligt fits the profile for City in this sort of focus they've always had of signing the best of young talent, being prepared to put high transfer fees down in the expectation the player's value will increase."

"Now I want to rest because I have a lot to give to the national team.
"I've spent two intense years, I don't know if I will spend a third year [at Sporting], I don't know if I'm going to leave. No one knows the future."

15.15 UPDATE: De Ligt offered to Manchester United
Gabrielle Marcotti claims Matthijs de Ligt has been offered to Manchester United and Real Madrid as well as Barcelona by agent Mino Raiola.
"He's trying to create an auction right, so he's punted De Ligt to Real Madrid, he's linked him to Manchester United, he's offered him of course to Barcelona," he told ESPN FC.
"Some reports in England say United are pulling out of the race for De Ligt, that all seems to be up in the air.
"But I think it's a numbers game for Barca frankly.
"They've already spent a ton of money on Frenkie de Jong.
"They definitely can spend money to reinforce the squad but if you're going to spend €80million on De Jong and you're going to go after [Antoine] Griezmann who's probably going to cost you north of €120m as well, then it becomes difficult to also add De Ligt.
"Unless you sell the likes of [Philippe] Coutinho, of [Ivan] Rakitic, [Jasper] Cillessen is another one who is probably going to go.
"Unless you sell all these guys at big, big numbers, and that's frankly a little bit difficult to do right now.
"So De Ligt is still out there, not committed yet.
"So I think this is a story that can run for a while."

15.00 UPDATE: Rangers to make second Edmundson bid
Rangers are preparing to make another offer for Oldham defender George Edmundson after he handed in a transfer request.
Rangers were knocked back after making an initial bid worth £400,000 with Oldham valuing the defender in the region of £1m.
However Express Sport understands Rangers will make a second bid of around £500,000 after the defender handed in a transfer request.
Edmundson rejected a new contract at the club last week as he looks to force a move and has gone a step a further by telling Oldham he wants out.
Rangers are battling with Derby, Portsmouth and Stoke for the 21-year-old defender but are not prepared to pay the £1m asking fee Oldham wanted to hold out for.
