Leyton Orient kept their Vanarama National League promotion bid on track with a 2-1 win over Havant at Westleigh Park.
Orient started more brightly, with Sam Ling and Jordan Maguire-Drew going close for the visitors in the opening half hour.
The O’s then took the lead in stunning fashion after 35 minutes with a fantastic 30-yard volley from Maguire-Drew.
Justin Edinburgh’s side went in search of a second and almost got it when Marvin Ekpiteta clipped the bar on the hour mark.
It could have proven costly as Alfie Rutherford restored parity for Havant in the 67th minute with a fine strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Maguire-Drew also struck the bar for Orient with 18 minutes remaining but the visitors did manage to retake the lead moments later.
Josh Coulson got on the end of Ling’s long throw and sent a looping header into the net to keep Orient five points behind leaders Wrexham.
