Plymouth claimed a crucial 3-0 win over basement rivals Oxford to move off the bottom of League One.
Antoni Sarcevic scored the opener and Ruben Lameiras netted either side of half-time as Argyle moved within two points of their rivals.
Sarcevic fired Argyle into a ninth-minute lead from close range after Simon Eastwood could only parry Ashley Smith-Brown’s shot.
Lameiras doubled the home team’s advantage in the 41st minute after an interception by Graham Carey. Carey’s ball to Freddie Ladapo enabled the striker to set up Lameiras, who finished in style.
Portuguese playmaker Lameiras went solo to make it 3-0 with an even better 67th-minute finish, twisting and turning before sweeping the ball into the far corner of the net.
Carey sent Eastwood full stretch in the 42nd minute as Argyle sought to press home their first half advantage.
Oxford’s best first-half chance fell to Marcus Browne in the 19th minute but he slipped as he tried to convert James Henry’s cross from the right.
