Rafinha says goodbye to the season: Breaks his anterior cruciate knee ligament

Barcelona have already made it official that Rafinha will miss the rest of the season after suffering a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee during the match against Atletico Madrid.

He will be operated on shortly and will be out of action for six months.

The Brazilian came on at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano as a replacement for the injured Sergi Roberto, but quickly noticed a problem.

It initially appeared that the player would also come off as he looked over at the bench and barely participated in the match for a few minutes.

However, Rafinha decided to stay on until the end of the game which may have only exacerbated the problem.

This is the second injury of this type to befall the player, because in 2015 he was out for 202 days after snapping the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.

Bad luck also saw him injured on April 2, 2017 against Granada, and he subsequently underwent an arthroscopy on his right knee to solve the injury to the inner meniscus.
