Man Utd contact N’Golo Kante representatives to discover TRANSFER INTEREST

MANCHESTER UNITED have made an audacious approach for Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.

The world-class midfielder has been a revelation in the Premier League since helping Leicester clinch the 2016 title.

Chelsea snapped up the France international for £32m on a five-year deal that summer before they too became champions the following season.

He then became a World Cup winner ahead of the new campaign and is playing an integral part in the Blues' success under Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea remains unbeaten in all competitions, while United and former Blues boss Jose Mourinho are enduring more difficult times at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils sit eighth in the table and have huge problems in the middle of the park.

Kante's France team-mate Paul Pogba has not seen eye-to-eye with Mourinho this term, £52m summer addition Fred has flopped and Nemanja Matic, bought from Chelsea for £40m in 2017, has been seriously struggling for form.

With Michael Carrick having hung up his boots to join Mourinho's coaching staff in the summer, United are lacking reliability in midfield.

As a result, it has been claimed they have sensationally turned to targeting Kante and made him a top target for 2019.

Chelsea news: Man Utd would love to lure N'Golo Kante to Old Trafford

According to CaughtOffside, United have sounded out the player's entourage over a potential transfer.

Initial contacts are said to have been made over whether Kante would be interested.

It is unclear at this stage whether the 27-year-old is pushing for a move away or would be open to joining United.

The big hurdle for Chelsea to overcome is tying Kante down to a new long-term deal.

His current contract runs until 2021 at Stamford Bridge.

And there have been links to PSG and Real Madrid in recent months too.

Kante is currently away on international duty with France as they play in the UEFA Nations League.

On Saturday (5.30pm), he returns to action with Chelsea against London rivals Tottenham at Wembley in their Premier League showdown.
