Croatia's star centre-half shone at the World Cup the summer, helping his country reach the final in Russia.

His performances appeared to attract the attention of Premier League clubs.

West Ham and Everton have been linked with moves for Vida, with the east London club reportedly seeing an offer just short of £20m rejected.

Besiktas, though, are poised to speak with Liverpool chiefs soon, according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet.

It is said representatives of the Reds are expected in Istanbul within the next few days.

And Milliyet add Besiktas president Fikret Orman would be ready to sanction a deal for a fee of £26.8m.

Everton are apparently keen to hold talks with Besiktas too, while West Ham may come back with another bid.

But Vida could ultimately team up with international colleague Dejan Lovren at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp strengthened his defence this week with the £65m signing of goalkeeper Alisson from Roma.

And a centre-half could come in to partner Virgil van Dijk moving forward with Vida on Liverpool's radar.

The 29-year-old, who is contracted with Besiktas until 2022, is currently on holiday off the back of his prolonged summer at the World Cup.
