200 fans meet in Villanueva de la Canada

More than 1,200 kilometres separates Madrid from Paris, the same distance practically from Parc des Princes to Villanueva de la Canada, a village in Spain that is filled with Paris Saint-Germain supporters.

During each PSG match, the 200 French fans meet up at La Fuente bar to watch one of the most lethal sides of Europe take on their rivals.

"PSG contacted us, and although at first, we thought it was a joke, we saw that they were serious," Antonio and Julian, coordinators of the fan group tell MARCA.

"We always talk to them, they send us gifts, tickets to games, and they help us organise events."

They work hand in hand with the Parisian club and will do so especially on Wednesday, which is considered to be the match of the season, when Neymar and Co. take on Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

"We have organised a trip for 200 fans to attend the match," they explain. "We will meet around 16:00 and we will meet up with a former PSG player.

"Afterwards, we will all go together to the stadium where we will meet the 4,000 French fans who will be in Madrid.

"We have been waiting for this game since the two sides were drawn together. We are very excited and the team will arrive with confidence.

"It is true that Madrid are a good team, they have 12 Champions League titles and we have none, it will be difficult, but it is the most important game in the history of the club.

"We will write history if we win."

The supporters are confident that Neymar will come out on top, as they do not fear Madrid's star man Cristiano Ronaldo. They predict a 2-1 scoreline in favour of PSG, with both goals from their Brazilian talisman.

"[Ronaldo] is much older than Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and age is noticeable," they admit.

"He is the best player in the world and he will for sure prove himself in games like these, but he will not be able to do anything against PSG," Julian notes.

"We have the best squad, we cannot lose after paying so much money for our players."

The supporters have the utmost trust and confidence in their big money signing and are positive the striker will lead them to European glory.

"Neymar is going to be the most important player," the fans declare. "He knows that, if he has a great match and PSG win, he can lift the Ballon d'Or.

"[Kylian] Mbappe always helps him, but Neymar will not come to play, he will come to win."

An opponent to match

The reality is that PSG, or at least their fans, will arrive to the big day with confidence but also with caution.

"It's the first match this season against a strong team because the league and the cup are easier to win," they say. "The Champions League is the only dream that the team, the players and the president have.

"For example, Neymar has not come to Paris to win the French competitions, he has come to win the Champions League."

Because of their past memories of the competition, especially last year's elimination, PSG will be hoping to avoid any mishaps against a Madrid side that are enduring possibly their worst campaign to date.

"It was an inexplicable match, we were at the Camp Nou and we did not believe what was happening," the supporters confess. "I hope that [Unai] Emery has learned his lesson.

"We know that even a 0-4 is not enough."
