Lionel Messi wants Barcelona man Aleix Vidal to get his career back on track away from the Nou Camp
BARCELONA star Lionel Messi has reportedly told Aleix Vidal he should quit the Nou Camp this month in order to get his career back on track.
Vidal joined Barca from La Liga rivals Sevilla in the summer of 2015 but their transfer ban meant he could not make his debut until the following January.
He's only made 41 first-team appearances over the subsequent two years though after failing to force his way into Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde's starting XIs.
Vidal has been tipped to leave Barcelona this winter as the club look to fine tune Valverde's squad as they hunt La Liga glory.
And the latest reports from Spain suggest Messi has offered his advice to the 28-year-old with his future in question.
According to Diario Gol, Messi is being kept informed of all the potential outgoings.
And after hearing Vidal could leave he apparently told the full-back: "Go away from Barca".
Messi's statement is said to have been motivated by wanting to see Vidal get the game time he deserves.
It seems Vidal could be handed a fresh start in familiar surroundings.
Aleix Vidal is one of several Barcelona players that Ernesto Valverde is happy to sell this month
New Sevilla boss Vicenzo Montella is thought to be keen on taking him back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Diario Gol indicate a permanent deal for Vidal could be agreed, or a loan with an obligation to buy.
Vidal is one of several players possibly set to depart Barcelona before the end of January.
Team-mate Rafinha is being targeted by Inter Milan as they look to strengthen their Serie A title challenge.
