Football is a dangerous game and as a footballer, you step onto the pitch knowing there's a very real chance of suffering all kinds of injuries to a variety of a body parts.
And Albacete defender Mariano Bittolo's episode is evidence that one's penis is not safe from injury when partaking in a game of football.
That's because in a goalless draw with Huesca in the Spanish second division, the Argentine was forced off in the 82nd minute after being accidentally stamped on his private parts by a teammate.
You can check out the incident here:
When the ball is swung in, as Bittolo and his teammate attack the ball, the 27-year old full-back, a summer signing from Cordoba, gets a stood right in his old man and is seen grimacing in pain.
He also had to have a cheek down below to see what the damage was.
The No.23 was forced off, and according to MARCA, via Goal, later needed 10 stitches in his phallus. Club doctor Eduardo Rodriguez confirmed the news.
In other news related to the use of a penis in football (that was a weird sentence to write), recently Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper Raphael Wolf boasted about saving the ball with his crown jewels in a 2-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld earlier this month.
"You always say with your balls but this one I saved with my penis," he told Bild.
"I never experienced such a free kick. First the pain was hellish but after some ice and rest it was okay.
"I have worn protection as a youth at Hallenspielen. But you can't run properly - it's crap!"
