Schweinsteiger leaves United
Bastian Schweinsteiger put an end to his bizarre Manchester United career last week, by announcing that he was joining MLS club Chicago Fire.
The German World Cup winner spent most of his time at Old Trafford watching from the stands, having been completely frozen out of the picture by Jose Mourinho, who banished him from first team training on the eve of the new season.
Mourinho evidently deemed Schweinsteiger surplus to requirements, and told him he needed to find a new club, because he wasn't going to be playing for United any more.
But Schweini dug his heels in and insisted that he was going nowhere, and was apparently prepared to train with the reserves for the remainder of his contract.
Schweini was eventually brought back into the fold over the Christmas period, but Mourinho probably only recalled him to ensure Schweini would be fit for a move away.
Chicago-Bound
So almost a week since the announcement, Schweini is now en route Stateside to complete the deal.
The German World Cup winner posted a plane selfie alongside his tennis star girlfriend Ana Ivanovic.
