Goals at the start of each half from Chris Hackett and Brendon Moloney put Northampton on their way to a 3-0 victory over York.
Northampton made a bright start with Ryan Cresswell heading over before they broke the deadlock in the fourth when Hackett found space in the box to beat Bobby Olejnik.
Marc Richards saw a header saved by Olejnik while Moloney and Lawson D'Ath had efforts blocked as Cobblers continued to carve out openings. D'Ath also had another effort saved by Olejnik.
York's first real opportunity fell to Keith Lowe who saw his header saved by Matt Duke but it was a rare threat to the Northampton keeper's goal.
And Cobblers doubled their advantage three minutes after the restart when Moleney beat Olejnik with a low drive into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after being set up by D'Ath.
York responded with Wes Fletcher firing over and Malvind Benning forcing Duke into a superb save to keep out his speculative 30-yarder which looked destined for the top corner.
Ricky Holmes was denied by Olejnik at the other end before Cobblers missed a great chance in the 68th minute when Benning fouled Holmes in the box but Richards saw his penalty saved by Olejnik.
Holmes went close again late on before substitute Ivan Toney fired home a third goal in the 89th minute after being set up by Darren Carter.
