Villareal keeper Asenjo lands on his neck, recovers to play on, taken to hospital with dizzy symptoms

There was a nasty looking incident during Espanyol’s draw with Villareal tonight, that leaves one wincing in pain at the mere sight of it.
Villareal’s keeper Sergio Asenjo leaped like a salmon for a cross, but collided with his own player’s arched back on his descent, and landed horribly on his neck.
Amazingly, and probably ill-advisedly, he recovered and was deemed fine to play on for the final 10 minutes, conceding an Espanyol eqaulizer in the 90th minute.
It was only on return to the dressing room once the adrenalin had passed, that he felt the pain, and showed signs of being dizzy.
He was taken straight to hospital and should spend the next 24 hours being checked on.
Would it really have been such a big ask to bring the number 2 keeper on for the final 10 minutes?!
