MANCHESTER United legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs are a net-busting £2million out of pocket on their hotel venture before a guest has even checked in.
The pals hoped to open Hotel Football in the shadow of United’s Old Trafford ground before the end of this month.
But the project has been delayed.
The 133-bed, ten-storey development, where rooms will cost £160 per night, boasts a five-a-side football pitch on the roof and would be able to host 1,500 fans on match days.
Former defender Gary, 39, who is now a TV pundit, and wing wizard Giggsy, 40, United’s assistant manager, plan to create up to 200 jobs at the hotel.
But the pair have agreed to delay the opening by four months.
The extra time will allow for improvements to the banqueting and conference facilities and for an extension to the football pitch.
The delayed opening will cost them and their consortium an estimated £2million.
A source said: “The lads want to get everything spot on and don’t want to cut any corners just to keep to a schedule.
"It’s only natural you want to get it finished and open the doors as quickly as possible.”
Last night a hotel spokesman said: “We have decided to delay the opening until March so we can further develop unique features.”
