Modric: a Real silver lining

Croatian playmaker Luka Modric has been the only silver lining amid Real Madrid's recent gloom and doom. Against the backdrop of the complete turmoil that has engulfed 'Los Blancos' in the last few weeks, Modric's soaring form has been a breath of fresh air and a beacon of hope ahead of next season.
Unfortunately, Modric's high point has coincided with Real's lowest ebb. From the match at Old Trafford, when the Croat really announced himself in the white shirt, through to the Spanish Cup final, Modric has driven the team on.
From winning back possession to his build-up play, ability to pick the right pass and shooting, Modric has blossomed this spring, finally offering the fans a glimpse of the qualities that earned him a big-money move to Madrid in the first place.
