The former BVB midfielder insists progressing to the quarter-finals from a tough opening group proves his old side can be considered among Europe's finest
Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Otto Addo has backed his old club to claim the Champions League title this season.
Jurgen Klopp's side face a quarter-final tie with Malaga on Wednesday, and the Ghanaian is confident that they will prevail against the Andalusians.
"Why can't they win it?" he told Goal.com.
"They prevailed in the group stage against Real Madrid, Ajax and Manchester City. This shows that they have high quality and can match anyone at the highest level in Europe.
"Malaga have a good team and many are surprised that they made it to the quarter-finals.
"They have players with lots of international areas and an outstanding playmaker in Isco, who can decide the game on his own."
Addo also feels that BVB have put more focus on their European campaign, with Bayern Munich running away with the Bundesliga.
"I think Dortmund want to give it all in every match. They subconsciously are motivated to win a competition they haven't won," he added.
"Therefore they have gone into these games a little more focused. Despite the gap wtih Bayern, they have had a good Bundesliga season."
