The Serie A winners could find no reply to a first minute strike from David Alaba, before Thomas Muller wrapped up proceedings in Bayern Munich's favour with a goal in the second half.

Conte told the Bayern official website that he had put out one of his strongest sides for the game, but found that they were simply not good enough.

"All I can do today [Tuesday] is pay my compliments to FC Bayern. This game proved Bayern Munich are one of the superpowers, and they’re rightly joint favourites for the trophy. We played a team full of bite and who were fired up. I don't think it was down to poor attitude on our part," Conte stated.

"Obviously, turning it around now will be tough, but we have to concentrate on how we can improve over the next few days. There is a second leg, and football keeps teaching us you have to carry on playing right through to the last second."

Bianconeri central defender Giorgio Chiellini admitted to Juventus.com that the Italians struggled to match the pace set by their opponents, but he believed they would do better in the return leg.

"We knew it would be tough. They played at an extremely high tempo and we found it hard to pass our way out of our area as we've been used to doing over the last year and a half," Chiellini shared.

"We hoped to do better tonight [Tuesday] and we know we can do better. We're not giving up. We're sure we can give them a game in the return leg. We'll have to up the tempo and intensity back at our place."

The second game of the Champions League quarter-final tie between Juventus and Bayern Munich will take place next Tuesday.
