Jovetic reveals failed Juve pursuit

Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic has revealed Juventus tried desperately to sign him in the summer.
Jovetic, who joined Viola from Partizan Belgrade in 2008, was linked with a move away from the club in the previous transfer window, with the likes of Juventus, Liverpool and Chelsea reportedly very keen on his services.
However, the Fiorentina hierarchy were adamant the Montenegro international was not going anywhere and that eventually proved to be the case, although Jovetic now admits the Bianconeri tried desperately to seal his services.
"I have to admit that Juventus tried hard to sign me," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Of course that made me think, but that's only normal. The chance to play in the Champions League, to play a key role in a project, the entire atmosphere at the club.
"But there's no need to go to Turin for that, as I have that here as well. I don't have any regrets that the move didn't materialise.
"I'm happy at Fiorentina. It's true that the president convinced me to stay here, but talks were always positive."
Jovetic netted 14 goals in 29 appearances for Fiorentina last season as the Florence-based side finished 13th in Serie A.
