Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has predicted that Barcelona's 'days of glory' have come to an end following his team being crowned La Liga champions on Wednesday.
Los Blancos recorded a comfortable 3-0 away win at Athletic Bilbao on to win their first Primera Division title since 2008 and the former Liverpool man believes the capital club's recent success could spell an end to Barca's recent dominance.
"I think this is our moment. I will say this phrase [to Barcelona], 'Your days of glory will soon come to an end'," he told XL Weekly.
Talking about Madrid's recent victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou, the full-back added: "That was perhaps the biggest challenge I've ever faced, to beat a great team like them."
The Spain international was also keen to talk about Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and declared that the Portuguese is different to his media persona.
"He's a great guy and sometimes I look at him as more of a friend who I can talk to about everything. Sometimes we may require maximum points and after a game, he will give you a hug," he stated.
"I have no complaints about him, he has always treated me well. Another thing I like about him is that he will tell you what he thinks to your face and that's very important."
Real Madrid are back in Liga action at the weekend when they visit Granada.
