Borini agent claims striker shunned Liverpool to make Roma move

Fabio Borini's agent has claimed the former Chelsea striker turned down a switch to Liverpool during the transfer window.

The Italy Under-21 international left Stamford Bridge this summer to sign for Parma on a free transfer.

He was immediatley loaned out to Roma on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season - but not before snubbing Kenny Dalglish's men.

Borini struggled to make the grade at Chelsea and spent time on loan at Swansea last season.

But his inability to claim a regular place in the Chelsea senior team did not deter Liverpool from making enquiries about the 20-year-old.
Borini's agent Marco de Marchi said: "Roma were interested for a month before the agreement was signed.

"Liverpool then launched their bid and this made Roma close in on the deal.

"He wanted to go to Roma before Liverpool because he knows it is a great opportunity in every way.

"Chelsea provided the facilities for him and after two years in England he has greatly improved in all areas."
