Brazil legend Ronaldo has indicated that Real Madrid would be a better destination than Barcelona for Santos star Neymar.
Earlier on the weekend, a report in Brazil suggested that Barca had stolen a march on Real and struck an accord with Santos for the transfer of the highly-rated forward.
Luis Alvaro, president of the Brazilian club, as well as Neymar's father, have already quashed such stories, but it is still believed the two clubs are vying for the forward's services.
And Ronaldo, who played for Barcelona from 1996 to 1997 and for Real Madrid from 2002 to 2006, has indicated that the Bernabeu would be a better place for his compatriot to flourish.
"Both options are great, but I still hope he goes to Real Madrid, where I spent five years," Ronaldo told Terra. "I think it would be better for him."
Neymar has always affirmed he is in no rush to embark on a move in Europe, but two-time World Cup winner Ronaldo says the 19-year-old needs to leave his homeland.
"Brazil has become too small for Neymar," Ronaldo added. "This is his moment and he needs to have the ambition to conquer the world, rather than just be the best in Brazil."
