Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has praised new signing Andy Carroll's modesty and has backed him to make an impact at Anfield.
Carroll arrived at Anfield from Newcastle for £35 million - a record for an English player - in January but has yet to play for the Reds due to injury.
However, Dalglish is already impressed by the new man. In comments reported by Liverpool's official website, the manager said:"He's a really good lad, he's really down to earth.
"'That is a value that I think is very important nowadays. You say this is an age where the punters can't relate to the people on the street. Well I don't think he is going to have a problem with that."
The crocker forward travelled with the squad for Liverpool's Europa League last-32 clash with Sparta Prague on Thursday - a move that Dalglish revealed was supposed to help him gel with his new teammates.er was included in the travelling party that went to Prague and the boss added:
"We brought Andy to get amongst the boys and recognise a couple of faces.
"But they'll relate to him when he gets back and he starts to get fit and play. But he's here to be in and amongst the players and continue his rehabilitation."
Reports suggest that the frontman could be ready in time to face Manchester United at Anfield on March 6 - a day that could see Luis Suarez and Carroll playing in tandem for the first time.
With Raul Meireles and Steven Gerrard playing just behind them and Dirk Kuyt able to occupy different positions - that would be a formidable Reds outfit indeed.
