Tale of the game
Didier Drogba scored the first hat-trick of the season in Saturday’s 6-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, taking his tally to seven goals in three League games. Chelsea, meanwhile, have scored 23 goals in their last four outings and have gone 406 minutes since they last conceded a League goal, at Spurs in April.
Wigan, though, beat Chelsea at the DW Stadium last season when the visitors had Petr Cech, their goalkeeper sent off before losing 3-1. The 8-0 final day win was adequate revenge for Chelsea, who have won eight and lost just that one game in 10 League meetings with Wigan.
Chelsea miss Jose Bosingwa while Wigan miss Gary Caldwell, who is banned and also injured.
Last season: Wigan 3 Chelsea 1, Chelsea 8 Wigan 0.
Stat of the game: Chelsea are the first team in the Premier League to score 14 goals in consecutive matches (8-0 v Wigan, 6-0 v WBA).
Betting tip: Chelsea to win easily; go for 3-0 at 6-1.
