Man Utd and Liverpool set to fight for Van de Ven if Tottenham are relegated this season
Micky van de Ven could be set to jump ship if Tottenham are relegated as Manchester United and Liverpool prepare bids.
Tottenham are sat in the relegation zone after a winless start to 2026 which leaves many supporters believing that Championship football is on the horizon for a side who have shown little fight in the final stage of the season.
After being unable to close the deal with a 2-2 draw with Brighton last weekend, Spurs are 2 points away from West Ham in 18th place.
Relegation would undoubtedly lead to several players leaving North London as they search for a club with not just ambition but a chance at staying up in the Premier League next season.
Now, reports suggest that defender Van de Ven could be on the move if Tottenham do drop down as he and his teammates ponder their future with a club who seem destined to exit the top flight.
Van de Ven has attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, two sides still looking to improve their backline over the coming months.
Liverpool are yet to tie down Ibrahima Konate down to a new deal, have an ageing Virgil van Dijk leading the backline and are set to wave goodbye to Andrew Robertson at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, United are set to compete with Europe's elite following a mid-season revival under Michael Carrick and will need top talent such as Van de Ven to rotate next season.
The 25-year-old is under contract until 2029 and his future is yet to be decided as Tottenham edge closer to relegation, an event that will certainly trigger bids from several clubs in the coming months.
