Yamal ruled out for the rest of the season! Barcelona star could miss World Cup

Lamine Yamal will miss the rest of the season after picking up an injury against Celta Vigo.

Yamal picked up an injury in the process of scoring a penalty in the narrow 1-0 win against Celta Vigo on Wednesday evening as he was immediately taken off the pitch.

The Spanish giants confirmed the injury on Thursday afternoon, revealing that he will receive treatment for the knock that will leave him out of the final stage of the campaign.

“Tests this Thursday have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg.

“The player will follow a conservative treatment plan. He will miss the remainder of the league season but is expected to be available for the World Cup.”

This is a huge worry for Spain ahead of the World Cup which begins in less than 50 days. Yamal’s Barcelona and Spain teammate Pedri spoke on the knock after the game which could seriously hinder their chances at the tournament.

“We just hope that Yamal’s injury is not significant. We still don’t know and I imagine we will need to wait for the medical tests tomorrow, but I’m optimistic because he is young and should get back soon.”

Bar7a are also currently without Raphinha in attack and now without Yamal, manager Hansi Flick will have to heavily rely on the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford in the few games that remain this season.
