Manchester United's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has accused the United hierarchy of "not believing" his three-month old daughter was hospitalised.
Ronaldo told Piers Morgan: "The president of Manchester United kind of didn't believe that there was something going wrong - which made me feel bad. Morgan than responded: "They didn't believe you?" As Ronaldo began to tip-toe around the question.
The 37-year-old continued: "And it's something that really hurt me, because they doubted my words that I struggled, especially with Belle and Gio [Georgina Rodriguez]. And I didn't go to pre-season because of that...because it wasn't fair to leave my family and go to pre-season."
Ronaldo announced the heartbreaking news April that he and Georgina had lost their new-born son, but his twin sister had survived.
In a joint statement, the pair said: "It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel." Ronaldo missed the following United game - a Premier League clash with Liverpool, where his family were blown away by the support shown by both sets of fans.
Ronaldo also told Morgan at a separate point of the interview: "My family is everything to me. Even more so after what we have been through this year."
United released a statement on Monday morning regarding Ronaldo's interview: "The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.
"Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."
