Caughtoffside can exclusively reveal that Cristiano Ronaldo is close to a return to Sporting CP as the club prepares for his debut ceremony from today.
According to sources, Mendes has been trying to bring Ronaldo back to his old club and the deal is very (99%) close to completion.
The first stage of preparations for the debut ceremony began on Friday in talks with an outsourced communications company responsible for public events.
Caughtoffside said that while a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, had previously been unlikely, recent events had turned Ronaldo's favour. Ronaldo has not seen eye to eye with Erik ten Hag since he took over at United and, despite his public support for the player, is keen to say goodbye before the summer window closes.
