One glaring omission as Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list of sport's biggest social media earners

A list of sport stars who earn the most from social media has been released and it make for interesting viewing.

Sports data analysts Bonus Finder, per The Mirror, have crunched the numbers and worked out which finely-tuned athletes rake in the most cash per social media post.

We're all well aware of their earnings from extortionate salaries or mega-money apparel deals, so these figures for sponsored posts are fascinating.

There's no real surprise to see football legend Cristiano Ronaldo topping the list.

The man who looks like he was chiselled out of stone boasts a colossal social media following with 476 million followers on Instagram alone.

According to Bonus Finder, the Manchester United forward earns a whopping $2 million per sponsored post.

Incredibly, Ronaldo makes double the amount per post as his rival Lionel Messi who takes home a very comfortable $1 million every time he chucks up a sponsored piccy.

Messi is tied in second place on the list with WWE star-turned-Hollywood actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who also makes $1 million per post.

Cricket great Virat Kohli sits in fourth, closely followed by Paris Saint-Germain trickster Neymar and NBA megastar LeBron James.

interestingly, though, UFC fan favourite Conor McGregor isn't inside the top 10.

The Irishman is pretty well-known for his flashy content, yet it seems his sponsored posts aren't earning him too much.

Oh well, I'm sure that super-yacht, billion-dollar businesses and stacks of cash in the bank (cheers Floyd) are doing him just fine.

The Mirror reports that the new updated list also features YouTubers-turned-boxers Jake Paul and KSI.

Both men have supposedly cracked the top 20 with Paul earning $65,993 per post while KSI's cheque reads $38,698.
