It's been revealed that PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe bizarrely received a handful of votes in the recent French presidential election.

Emmanuel Macron was re-elected for five more years earlier this week after recording a comprehensive victory over Marine Le Pen in the French election. The result means Macron will become the first sitting president in 20 years to be re-elected after he was first voted into power back in 2017.

However, it's now emerged that the name of PSG's striking sensation ended up on a handful of ballot papers in the eastern village of Tallenay. According to a new report from L'Est Républicain, via GFFN, Mbappe somehow received 10 votes in the second round count.

Unsurprisingly, the small village - which has 348 registered voters - saw the 10 votes which had pre-prepared ballot papers for Mbappe inserted into envelopes struck off as invalid.

Although Mbappe is unlikely to be running for French office anytime soon, it appears there is at least a chance that the in-demand striker could be set to stay at the Parc des Princes. Real Madrid have been continuously linked with the 23-year-old over the past 12 months and are desperate to lure the 33-goal hitman to the Bernabeu when his contract expires in the summer.

But according to a new report from The Telegraph, PSG are 'increasingly hopeful' of persuading Mbappe to stay in Paris. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi held productive talks with Mbappe's mother, Fayza Lamari, in Doha last week as the French giants continue to try and charm their prized asset into committing his future to the club.

PSG sporting director Leonardo hinted that a surprise could be on the cards when he taunted Real Madrid over their hopes of signing Mbappe at the weekend. Mbappe has been expected to move to Madrid for months - but Leonardo's comments teased that the striker could instead snub Real and pen a new deal with PSG.

He told Sky Sports on Saturday night: "In Madrid, they've been convinced for three years that Kylian Mbappe would end up at Real Madrid. Maybe they're a little too sure about that?"

And he went on to reveal to Canal+ that Mbappe is seriously "thinking" about his future and has decided nothing yet. He added: "Honestly, the discussions were always there.... Kylian, he talks with us, and we have constant communication. I think he is still in a reflection. I think there is a possibility that he stays. He can also leave. But he is thinking."
