Cristiano Ronaldo once set up Everton flop James Rodriguez with a stunning Russian model.

The 37-year-old Manchester United star was still bagging goals for Real Madrid in 2017 when he introduced his teammate to Helga Lovekaty at a party. Thanks to Ronaldo, who spent three seasons with Rodriguez in the Spanish capital between 2014 and 2017, the Colombian star quickly hit it off with the St. Petersburg beauty.

The pair continued to exchange likes on each other’s Instagram photos as their relationship flourished. It came immediately after Rodriguez divorced wife Daniela Ospina - former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina's sister.

Bikini bombshell Lovekaty later attracted criticism for the midfielder’s poor performances for Colombia at the 2018 World Cup, which was held in her home country.

She was targeted with abusive comments like "Pig" and "James hates you" by social media bullies.

Lovekaty, who first started modelling on Instagram in 2013, has amassed a whopping 4.1million followers on the social media site by regularly posting racy snaps. They range from skimpy beachwear to gowns and lingerie.

But it appears that wasn’t enough to keep her and Rodriguez together, with the ex-Everton star most recently being in a relationship with Venezuelan beauty Shannon de Lima.

After having a son together, James and De Lima also split at some point during 2021 as his career in England came to an anticlimactic end.

The playmaker left Everton at the beginning of the current 2021/22 season after just one year at Goodison Park, despite signing a two-year-deal. James was “forced to leave” due to disagreements with at-the-time manager Rafa Benitez, thereby ending his time in Merseyside with six goals and nine assists.

He opted to join Qatari club Al-Rayyan for an undisclosed fee, where he currently earns a mind-boggling £10.1million a year. But according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Rodriguez now wants a return to European football.

He is reportedly ready to slash his wage demands in order to leave Ahmad bin Ali Stadium as super-agent Jorge Mendes begins the search for a new club.
