Jose Mourinho refused to meet some young Norwegian fans after one of the group threw a snowball at him.

Mourinho is in Norway for the first leg of Roma’s Europa Conference League match against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night. The Portuguese manager doesn’t have fond memories of Bodo, which is in the Arctic Circle in the north of the country, having suffered one of the most humiliating defeats of his career in October.

Roma were thrashed 6-1 by Bodo/Glimt in the group stage of the competition earlier in the season. Before that match, Mourinho spent time out in the cold taking selfies with the local supporters who had gathered in the car park to meet him.

The Special One was back in town on Wednesday, but there was no repeat of the amiable meet and greet. A video from Norwegian journalist Truls Naas, which was posted on Twitter, shows why.

As he walks out into the car park cries of “Mourinho!” can be heard from the crowd of around 30 children, who are waiting behind a fence with their phones out. The Roma boss walks over towards them before a snowball flies over the top of the crowd and narrowly misses him.

After that, Mourinho turns to his left and ignores the shouts for selfies, instead heading straight into the awaiting team bus. It is hardly the most hostile welcome the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager has received, but he will be looking forward to leaving Norway on Friday.

Unlike in October, Roma are in good form having gone nine games across all competitions without suffering defeat. They will be big favourites to beat Bodo/Glimt and take an advantage back for the return leg in Rome next week.

"I am happy to be back here and hope it goes better than last time,” Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference. “I always said I don’t like artificial turf, as football is either played on grass or it is a different sport. Having said that, we have no excuses this time, there are two games and we want to reach the semi-final. We have respect for Bodo, because they proved that they are a great team at the Stadio Olimpico too.”

He added: “We are a different team and we want to play the semi-final. It was a drama in October, because losing 6-1 is more than just a defeat.”
