After seeing his assets frozen by the UK government, Roman Abramovich has been left in rather a difficult spot and is believed to be turning to his wealthy friends in the hope of securing an emergency loan.
Abramovich is currently in the process of trying to sell Chelsea, although it's unclear just how this process can go through without the government taking control of the London club.
According to a report published by the Sun, Abramovich is seeking a sum of around one million pounds in order to stay afloat as the strength of sanctions begins to weigh on him.
Abramovich has denied links to Putin
Despite being rather open about his willingness to sell Chelsea, Abramovich has vehemently denied that he is close to Vladimir Putin, although this claim was then undermined by the fact the Chelsea owner was part of Russia/Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul.
The aforementioned report suggests that Abramovich still has weekly costs of around 600,000 pounds which he needs to pay his staff, however he can no longer access any of his money.
Hence, he has asked multiple celebrity friends for loans of around one million pounds each, as well as the highly publicised Rothschild family.
Nobody has agreed to loans as of yet, with Abramovich facing sanctions from different governments across the globe, and they are clearly fearful of what the repercussions would be for them if they were found to be lending the Russian funds.
