WEST HAM expect Kurt Zouma to be prosecuted for animal cruelty by the RSPCA for kicking and slapping his cat, reports say.

The animal welfare charity seized the defender's pet after a shocking video of Zouma abusing it sparked an investigation.

Fellow footballer Yoan Zouma filmed and put this disturbing footage of older brother Kurt's actions on Snapchat

The France star's younger brother Yoan, who plays for National League side Dagenham & Redbridge, could also face charges as he filmed and uploaded the scene to Snapchat last month.

The Hammers fined top centre-back Zouma two weeks' wages.

The 27-year-old said he was 'deeply sorry' for his actions and claimed his two Bengal cats are 'fine and healthy' as well as 'loved and cherished'.

But the disturbing home footage published in The Sun sparked outrage and a speedy RSPCA probe.

Now The Mail say the organisation has almost finished its investigation and West Ham are 'braced' for a prosecution.

The fifth-tier Daggers are also said to be anticipating charges for 23-year-old Yoan.

Unlike the Hammers, their London neighbours briefly suspended their defender following the video.

West Ham boss David Moyes labelled Zouma's action as 'diabolical' but defended his decision not to drop him.

Moyes later added: “The boy is so remorseful. He’s really disappointed with his actions.

“So we have a duty of care. Even the mental health side of things, we’re trying to make sure we give him every opportunity, that we give him support as well.

“He knows he has made a mistake and his family know they have made a mistake about the whole situation."

If the RSPCA do prosecute, it's thought they would decide how serious the charges should be based on whether they think Zouma's cats have been repeatedly abused.
